I’m constantly writing, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have times when I slow down a little. This usually happens to me in the winter. For some reason, my entire life gets turned down a notch. I meet my deadlines, but the writing process is more difficult and takes longer than usual. I truly believe that winter is meant for hibernation, and the effects of the cold, dark days hit me hard. I’m really looking forward to spring, and I can feel my mind and body picking up in pace. Instead of fighting nature, it’s best to flow with it. Struggling during winter is part of the creative process, because I know it will help me be more productive in the spring and summer.

I enjoy writing from home, but it has a tendency of making me an outsider. This winter I avoided driving around town like the plague, so I mostly stayed in my pajamas, drank tea and wrote my articles with my cat at my side. Nothing wrong with that, right? Yes, I was getting things accomplished, but I wasn’t speaking to anyone except close friends and family. Writing is a lonely job, and it can cause you to distance yourself from the world. In order to be a better writer, you have to socialize with people because that is when you get the great stories and maybe even find new gigs. If you’re trying to start your social life again, check out this article: How to be Social.

I think everyone could use a few more hours in his/her day, especially during the wintertime when it’s darker earlier. Managing your time is no easy task, but it has been getting easier with technology.
Are you one of those people who need to be reminded about every little thing like loading the dryer or starting dinner? A PDA or other electronic organizer might be the perfect gadget for you. By setting alarms and adding events to the calendar, your personal organizer can prevent you from missing writing seminars and forgetting to pick your children up from after school activities. For more ways to take advantage of technology you already own check out the following article: How to Manage Your Time with Technology.

It’s essential for writers to have excellent researching tips. Whether you write fiction or nonfiction, you need to look up information to make your writing realistic or credible.
I’m a researcher by nature. I enjoy looking up how to do things, and every time I have a problem, I always try to find a solution on the Internet. To tell you the truth, I don’t know what my life would be like without it. Maybe I would be at the library more often. Researching on the Internet is easy, but if you want to get more relevant search results, you definitely need to use keywords. Check out the following article: How to Research on the Internet.
